At Herrick Dental, we use tooth-colored fillings to repair teeth that have been damaged by dental cavities or minor decay.

What are composite fillings?

Composite fillings are the modern solution to filling cavities and making minor repairs to teeth, replacing the use of unsightly metal or silver fillings. Made of a safe composite resin material, tooth-colored fillings are blended to match the color of a patient's teeth.

Composite fillings are a solution for:

• Repair teeth that have small chips
• Replace decayed tooth structure
• Strengthen worn teeth
• Close small gaps between teeth

Composite fillings are typically placed in one appointment. After numbing the tooth, our doctor will place the filling within the tooth structure and polish the filling to give a natural appearance. For a brief time following the procedure, a patient may experience slight discomfort or sensitivity with hot or cold drinks.
